Bet you thought I wasn’t going to post again so soon! Part of the blogging challenge was to get me in the habit of blogging regularly so I could stick with it better in 2014. I’m excited and refreshed and ready to tackle a new year.
A few days before Jan. 1st I went grocery shopping (with a list, like a grown up!) and stocked up on healthy food and had meals planned so I could start the new year right. I’ve been eating better for a week now (with a few exceptions) and I’m feeling pretty good about it.
I made some taco meat (ground turkey with Old El Paso seasoning mix) and made taco salads. I made a pork loin and burritos with brown rice, black beans and corn mixed with salsa and picante sauce. I made slow cooker turkey meatballs and sauce and served it over spaghetti squash (that was GOOD!).
I’ve also been making it a point to eat breakfast, which I was really bad at last year! So I’ve been having egg and veggie sandwiches on multi-grain flat bread and veggie omelets with sprouted grain toast.
For dinner last night I had Italian seasoned chicken breast and mixed veggies and quinoa sautéed with just a little bit of butter and Italian seasoning.
To kick off the new year right, I ordered Fitness magazine on my kindle (annual subscription is only $5, don’t mind if I do!) and treated myself a new pair of running shoes! This is my third pair of Mizuno Wave Alchemy’s and I love them! They are so supportive and comfortable.
I was in desperate need. I can’t wait to break in the new ones!
(Nice even wear pattern though!)
Also, as a side note… In 2013 my wonderful husband bought me a Shellac Kit and it’s something I have enjoyed immensely. Here’s my latest manicure:
Nothing beats a shellac manicure, and I love that I can do it myself. I definitely take more risks color wise knowing I can easily change it if I don’t like it and not have to spend $40 each time. AND I can shape my nails the way I want. For some reason no matter where I go they can’t manage to shape my nails or file them evenly for that matter.
After being motivated by my first issue of Fitness magazine I am going to start C25k (Couch to 5k), and Blue is begging me for a walk (he’s in for a surprise!) so I’m off!
Happy 2014!
